Helping young Aussies get strong at home — for less.
Garage Gains AU is a small, independent site for people setting up their first home gym on a real-world budget. No supplement spruiking, no $3,000 all-in-one machines — just gear that works and lasts.
Why we started this
Gyms are expensive, commutes eat your evenings, and most "home gym" advice online is written for Americans with three-car garages and unlimited budgets. We wanted a resource for the rest of us: the 16–35 crowd in apartments, sharehouses and single-car garages across Australia who just want to train without signing up to a $30-a-week membership forever.
So we test, research and compare the cheap end of the market — the adjustable dumbbells, the foldable benches, the second-hand-barbell tricks — and write it up in plain English.
How we keep it honest
This site is reader-supported. When you buy through our links we may earn a small commission from the retailer, at no extra cost to you. That's what keeps the lights on — but it has zero influence on what we recommend. If the budget pick beats the premium one, the budget pick wins. We'll also tell you when the smartest move is to buy nothing at all and check Facebook Marketplace instead.
Budget-first, always
Every recommendation has to earn its place on a tight budget. If a $90 option does 90% of what the $400 one does, that's what we tell you to buy.
Australian context
Prices in AUD, shipping realities, apartment and rental constraints, and the gear that's actually available here — not repackaged US advice.
Honest about money
We use affiliate links and may earn a commission. It never changes our picks, and we'll happily point you to a cheaper option when it's the smart buy.
